Daniel Kobialka's header image

Daniel’s career began at the age of thirteen when he debuted in Carnegie Hall in New York and has taken him on a fantastic musical journey from Soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra to Concert Master for Leonard Bernstein’s MASS to his position as Principal Second Violinist for the San Francisco Symphony.

Kobialka's sometimes non-traditional approach to the classical violin idiom was the catalyst for what would become LiSem Recordings. Founded in California in the late 70s, LiSem quickly established itself as a leader in the New Age music movement. A majority of the early recordings saw Daniel utilizing the violin as a conduit for healing and meditation, sometimes venturing off into the avant-garde. As the years progressed, so did the tastes of Daniel and listeners. Guest artists soon joined Daniel to record releases that covered everything from the pops, to jazz, and even bluegrass. LiSem eventually relocated operations from California to Texas, where Daniel continued to compose and record until his death in early 2021.

Always adventurous, Daniel can also be heard on recordings by, but most certainly not limited to: Metallica, Ambrosia, Ron Carter, McCoy Tyner, Lancey Foux, Steven Halpern, and many others.
