As a fan of synth minimalism, John Carpenter's film scores somehow did two things for music fans: provide effective (and cheap) music for his movies; and, strangely, open a world up that I'm sure he never expected, a home to darkwave, Krautrock, Phillip Glass, John Adams, Steve Reich, and more.
